On July 16, 2024, GLOFCA team member and Head of the Laboratory at the Institute of Fundamental and Applied Research \u201cTIIAME\u201d National Research University, Mukhiddin Juliev, was invited to appear on Uzbekistan\u2019s television channel \u201cDunyo bo`ylab\u201d for an interview. The primary focus was on opportunities for Uzbekistan’s citizens to study abroad, including internships, PhD programs, and the integration of internationally trained scientists into significant regional climate initiatives.<\/p>\n

During the interview, Mukhiddin Juliev highlighted Central Asia\u2019s unique vulnerability to climate change and discussed various international initiatives focused on climate action in the region, including the GLOFCA project. He noted how the GLOFCA project reduces vulnerabilities of local populations to Glacier Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs) through its efforts in disaster risk reduction and the development of early warning systems.<\/p>\n
