This brochure explores the growing risks of Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), driven by retreating glaciers and increasing downstream vulnerabilities. It identifies key challenges, such as limited spatial coverage of hazard reduction measures, insufficient local engagement, and the need for stronger governance and integrated multi-hazard approaches. Drawing on global case studies, it offers recommendations to address these issues, emphasizing sustainable, community-centered solutions.
