In the end of August 2022, a four days joint field visit was conducted to the various lakes close to the Adygene research station in the valley of Adygene, a western tributary to the Ala Archa river and valley. A team of scientists from the Kyrgyz Academy of Science’s Institute of Water Problems and Hydroenergy, the Swiss University of Zurich and visiting female students from various Kyrgyz universities spent three nights at Adygene research station. The team conducted bathymetrical surveys for the upper and lower Adygene lakes.

Major collapse of the Dehdal Glacier
On 25 October 2025, at around 11:00 a.m., a large ice mass collapsed from the Dehdal Glacier (formerly known as Dedal), located on the northern slopes of the Peter the First Range, near the village of Safedobi in Tajikabad District.

GLOFCA project and partners planted 800 trees in the Pskem Valley to protect against landslides and held a children’s drawing contest
On 30 October 2025, the GLOFCA team and the State Institution “Hydroingeo” will hold a tree-planting campaign in the Pskem Valley, one of the project’s pilot sites. The initiative aims to stabilise slopes and protect local communities from landslides.
